About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Associate to join our Venture Growth Evergreen (VGE) team to focus on secondary transactions in our New York office. The firm has been investing in private markets since 2003 and launched its first dedicated private capital fund in 2014. This role will be involved in all aspects of the investment sourcing, underwriting, and execution process, with a core focus on deal-level modeling and underwriting for a broad set of investment across growth/venture secondary transactions. The VGE secondary strategy will include investments in LP transactions, GP-leds and secondary directs. The ideal candidate will be capable of executing in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize key focus areas in a dynamic investment process. They will also be passionate about private markets more broadly and interested in getting exposure and understanding of broad set of industries and investment strategies. We expect this individual to leverage his or her insight and experience during the investment process, while working closely with others across our Private Investments team and the broader Wellington investment platform.

  • The ability to synthesize disparate information during the diligence process, identify the most important elements, and translate findings into clear and concise materials is required.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and will need the ability to move seamlessly across workstreams, managing multiple deals and diligence streams simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills – The ability to clearly communicate through verbal and written materials is critical when interacting with management teams, collaborating with internal and external partners, and drafting investment memos and other documents.
  • Superior collaboration and influencing skills – The candidate will be a self-directed, hard-working team player, who contributes to the investment efforts of VGE and the broader Private Investing platform.
  • Deep interest in secondaries investing, and intellectual curiosity across industries and investment types.
  • Interest in wealth-oriented products and more complex investment vehicles like evergreen funds.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in secondary investing, with a preference for experience across LP, GP and secondary direct transactions.
  • Demonstrable ability to work both independently and to collaborate with experienced, cross-functional deal teams
  • Strong financial modeling skills, confidence to build financial models from scratch and identify the correct drivers
