About The Position

This position will be based in CONWAY, AR and will assist in establishing a new office in this market. The Associate Scientist - Compliance role involves understanding and implementing permit parameters for various industries, performing environmental inspections (SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA), and conducting sampling. The role requires reviewing analytical data, tracking requirements, communicating with regulatory organizations, and maintaining relationships with employees. Safety is paramount, with adherence to OSHA and internal requirements, including the use of PPE. The position also supports environmental audits and other assigned duties to achieve organizational goals.

  • Undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Must complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training within the first 2 weeks of employment.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT and Hazmat Physical.
  • Must be able to safely wear all required PPE including respirators.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1)- three (3) years experience in and/or exposure to environmental consulting, compliance.
  • Familiar with SWPPP and SPCC inspections/document requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement permit parameters effectively for sampling or other requirements for several different industries.
  • Perform Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) inspections of regulated areas and outfalls as required by state-specific or site-specific permits.
  • Conduct visual monitoring of stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) and escalate required corrective actions.
  • Complete sampling requirements (visual or analytical sampling requirements) on-time in a safe and time-efficient manner.
  • Review analytical data from sampling results and notify project or program manager(s) of any exceedances or overages.
  • Track inspections and sampling requirements, corrective actions/corrective actions reports (CARs), and communication with project/program managers.
  • Request information and communicate with various governmental and regulatory organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established OSHA and internal requirements.
  • Follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Help project manager perform environmental audits, as assigned, for ISO 14001 program, other regulatory programs, or as requested by clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
