Chemours is seeking an Associate Scientist to join our Titanium Technologies Ore Technology team at the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, DE. This position directly reports to the Lab Supervisor, and functional guidance will be provided by Principal Investigators managing laboratory programs. As part of the group, this role is dedicated to the improvement of existing processes and the development of new processes and products related to TiO2 manufacturing. The research spans a variety of process technologies including neutralization, pressure filtration, drying, wet chemistry, etc.

Requirements

  • BS/Associate degree in Chemistry, engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on chemistry or R&D lab experience requiring the safe handling of chemicals
  • Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft applications, and related systems and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assorted tasks in a chemistry lab, including, but not limited to: Safe handling of hazardous chemicals
  • Solid/liquid separations (e.g. pressure filtration, flocculation, settling)
  • Heat treatments of materials in ovens
  • Titrations, manual or automatic pH and other electrode-based measurements
  • Assembling, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting lab scale process equipment for solids, liquids, and slurries experiments
  • Sample preparation and submission to various other labs for further testing
  • Managing lab services and operations as required (e.g. equipment inspections, certifications, ordering supplies, managing inventory)
  • Data recordkeeping and organization consistent the Chemours policies for protection of intellectual property.
