About The Position

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist I, Analytical Development to join an experienced, fast-paced and collaborative team. This role will be responsible for routine testing and analytical method development/optimization for characterization of our targeted lipid nanoparticles (tLNPs) and its components. Working under close supervision, this position will support expansion of the mRNA/tLNP platform and pipeline. This role requires a strong attention to detail with a quantitative/analytical mindset and drive to tackle complex problems in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering or other related field with no additional experience.
  • Must be detail oriented with demonstrated ability in problem solving and organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime (as needed) required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with plate-based assays, ELISA, HPLC, and/or capillary electrophoresis (CE) is preferred.
  • Highly adaptive and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analysis and support development/optimization of methods under supervision for characterization of tLNPs and subcomponents, including plate-based assays, DLS, ELISAs, CE and/or HPLC methods
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Discuss methods/data in team meetings.
  • Actively contribute to improving team operations, analytical procedures, methods, SOPs, etc.
  • Support analytical lab operations through equipment maintenance, organizing and maintaining inventory, aliquoting and labeling, and other tasks as needed
  • Maintain detailed and comprehensive documentation and electronic lab notebook (ELN) entries for all performed experiments and assays
  • Prepare data reports and presentations as needed
  • Follow safety procedures/guidelines, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
