About The Position

The ideal candidate is an early-career scientist with a relevant bachelor's degree and solid hands-on research experience who is comfortable spending the majority of their time working at the bench. They will bring strong mammalian cell culture, in vitro pharmacology, and plate-based assay experience, including experience working with compounds and generating or evaluating dose-response data. The manager is open to candidates from either academic or industry research environments and places greater emphasis on demonstrated technical ability, hands-on experience, and independence than on a specific industry background. In vivo or small-animal experience would be beneficial but is not required. The candidate should be genuinely interested in a hands-on Associate Scientist contract position, be able to take direction and collaborate with the team, and be capable of becoming productive with reasonable onboarding and training. The primary role is to design and perform in vitro & in vivo pharmacology studies to support ongoing programs; generate and analyze data; maintain ELN entry and data recording. The candidate will successfully generate data to support existing programs, perform mechanistic study to generate insights, support program team, and characterize key reagents and tool molecules. This role sits within the Cardiometabolic Therapeutic Area – Early Discovery department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience performing experiments, organizing data, and analyzing results

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with in vivo and in vitro pharmacology skills; capable of independently designing, implementing, and analyzing studies with proper controls and generating reproducible, high-quality data
  • Technical mastery of general molecular biology and cell-signaling analysis techniques including immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry, RT-qPCR, immunoprecipitation, and ELISA
  • In vivo or small-animal experience

Responsibilities

  • Follows established experimental design and protocols to generate reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision.
  • Plans, conducts, analyzes, and records experiments, and provides interpretation of data.
  • Reviews literature to identify and effectively transfers experimental methods to the lab and makes modifications as necessary.
  • Develops and implements new protocols to address biological questions.
  • Engages coworkers in scientific discussions and communicates data/interpretation to program teams.
  • Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of standard laboratory equipment and with one or more major laboratory techniques.
  • Effectively troubleshoots equipment and experimental difficulties.
  • Contributes to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions and/or patents.
  • Follows best practices in ELN entry, data recording, safety, and compliance.
  • With minimal supervision, plans, conducts, or monitors experiments, records and organizes data, analyses results, and generates robust and reliable data.
  • Ensures contracted studies are conducted in compliance with the respective protocol and applicable guidelines and regulations.
