About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking individuals to join their team in Richmond, VA. This role offers a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) and is suitable for military service members and veterans. The position can be filled at either an associate or mid-level depending on candidate experience. The role involves researching, securing, and processing easements and other right-of-way documentation, coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining accurate workload records. The associate level focuses on learning and enforcing policies, while the mid-level involves preparing, obtaining, and maintaining easement rights, negotiating land rights, and identifying/defending company easement rights. Both levels require reviewing easements for approval and entry into the Easement Tracking System, and working with internal teams on right-of-way procedures.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years right of way or industry related experience (Associate Right of Way Agent I).
  • 2-4 years right of way or industry related experience (Right of Way Agent).
  • Basic knowledge of right of way and easements.
  • Basic knowledge of drafting.
  • Ability to read and interpret plats, survey and site plans.
  • Basic introduction/skill of GIS tools and mapping procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCad.
  • Basic verbal and written communication.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Persuasiveness.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to process information quickly.
  • Deductive reasoning.
  • Ability to research and analyze data and develop solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, creates, secures and processes easements, quitclaims and other related distribution rights-of-way documentation.
  • Coordinates and maintains communication with both internal and external customers, including legal representation, municipalities, title companies, surveyors, environmental, Dominion’s internal legal department, landowners and other entities pertaining to questions, the acquisition or proof of new and existing rights.
  • Maintains and manages accurate workload records.
  • Learns and enforces Rights of Way policies and procedures.
  • Reviews easements for approval for recordation and entry into Easement Tracking System.
  • Prepares, obtains and maintains easement rights for proposed and existing facilities/projects.
  • Negotiates land rights, processes quitclaims and identifies and defends company easement rights.
  • Prepares and secures easements, special agreements, quitclaims, and plats.
  • Researches company prior rights on relocation projects to assist in determining prorate of jobs.
  • Conducts written and verbal negotiations to discuss easements and rights-of-way.
  • Provides assistance to local/system employees and the private sector.
  • Works with local design, construction, and operations employees on right-of-way procedures.
