About The Position

Baylor University is seeking an Associate Research Scientist in Faith and Disability. The Associate Research Scientist supports the research and dissemination agenda of the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing and the Baylor Collaborative on Faith and Disability. This role leads and collaborates on interdisciplinary and applied research projects exploring the areas of faith, belonging, families, and disability. The position collaborates with faculty, students, and community partners on applied scholarship and resource development that promotes the flourishing of people with disabilities, their families, and communities. Current areas of work include research on belonging and participation in the arts and the development and evaluation of a spiritual assessment toolkit for use with people with disabilities, families, congregations, and professionals. This position is supported by external grant funding and is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree and three years of relevant work experience are required.
  • All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of qualitative, ethnographic, and mixed-methods studies
  • Lead studies examining topics such as faith, belonging, families, and disability
  • Develop research protocols, craft project timelines, coordinate research and evaluation activities, and ensure effective completion of assigned research initiatives
  • Facilitate regular project team meetings and support the effective execution of research plans
  • Contribute to other research and evaluation projects within the Center, as appropriate and agreed upon with the supervisor
  • Contribute to the development of peer-reviewed publications, research reports, briefs, and practical resources that communicate findings
  • Support dissemination through presentations, publications, training materials, and other formats designed for academic, professional, and practitioner audiences
  • Lead the preparation of grant proposals, foundation applications, and project reports related to the research agenda of the Baylor Collaborative on Faith and Disability and the broader Center
  • Collaborate with faculty and leadership of the Collaborative on Faith and Disability and the broader Center to identify funding opportunities and support the development of externally funded research initiatives
  • Document project activities, outcomes, and deliverables required by funders
  • Participate remotely in regular Center-wide staff meetings
  • Contribute professional expertise and perspective to Center-wide planning and projects as invited
  • Occasionally serve on selected committees, working groups, or short-term initiatives
  • Periodically check-in with supervisor to provide project updates and ensure project alignment with Collaborative goals
  • Maintain productive connections with Center colleagues and support a collaborative organizational culture
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
