About The Position

This is a term position at the Pennsylvania State University, focusing on defining large-scale genomic data analysis from a web browser. The role involves working with popular genomics software like Galaxy and AnVIL, which assist thousands of researchers annually. The position will contribute to designing and implementing new solutions for organizing, analyzing, and visualizing growing datasets using modern web technologies such as Vue.js and REST APIs. The work environment is in small, focused teams, offering opportunities for learning and contribution. The continuation of employment past the initial term is contingent upon university need, performance, and funding availability.

Requirements

Ph.D. degree, or its equivalent, in computer science, or be an active candidate for a terminal degree, in an academic field related to computer science.
Knowledge of a modern JavaScript framework and ecosystem.
Knowledge of Bootstrap.
Knowledge of Git + GitHub.
Knowledge of CI tools.
Familiarity with Python.
Familiarity with REST APIs.
Great communication skills.
Interest in working with other teammates.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with the basics of genomics, such as concepts, data types, tools.
