About The Position

The Associate Relationship Manager (ARM) collaborates with Relationship Managers (RMs) to facilitate sales and servicing efforts, conduct financial and risk analyses, and aid in developing client solutions. This role is structured for growth through specialized training and practical experience, evolving from fundamental support tasks to more advanced client engagement and business development duties. ARMs are expected to demonstrate strong financial and risk analysis skills, alongside sales and business development acumen. Critical thinking and effective prioritization are crucial, especially when supporting multiple Relationship Managers or other internal partners. A core aspect of the ARM role is a dedication to continuous learning and progressive skill enhancement. This includes acquiring a thorough understanding of the bank’s products and services, developing sales and client engagement competencies, identifying new revenue opportunities through prospecting, applying consultative selling strategies, and advancing proposals through the sales cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business Administration), Liberal Arts or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 1–2+ years of experience in commercial banking, financial services or client-facing sales role, or accounting.
  • Novice to proficient knowledge of: Financial and credit risk analysis.
  • Novice to proficient knowledge of: U.S. economy and regulatory environment.
  • Novice to proficient knowledge of: Sales and business development practices.
  • Novice to proficient knowledge of: Commercial lending practices and corporate legal structures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills; self-driven with demonstrated ability to take ownership of multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Understanding of local/regional market dynamics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with RMs to support sales and servicing activities.
  • Assist in identifying and qualifying prospects through industry and client research.
  • Create and maintain client management records in iris, including client profiles and opportunity pipelines.
  • Prepare and contribute to client presentations and proposals.
  • Attend and actively participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Collect and input KYC due diligence information.
  • Conduct initial pricing analysis and generate relationship pricing models.
  • Draft initial deal screens and opportunity memos.
  • Engage in direct client contact to support relationship development.
  • Identify new business opportunities and apply consultative selling strategies.
  • Conduct initial outreach to prospective clients and facilitate introductions to Relationship Managers.
  • Support Relationship Managers in the negotiation, advancement and closure of proposals.
  • Participate in structured onboarding and training in commercial banking solutions.
  • Utilize internal learning platforms in finance, credit analysis, and relationship management.
  • Engage with experienced Relationship Managers and senior leaders who serve as trained coaches, providing guidance and support for professional development.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and client engagements.
  • Engage in regular performance feedback and career planning discussions.
