About The Position

The Associate Regional CNO is responsible for developing nursing leaders, analyzing nursing processes, and implementing remediation plans to improve nursing care and operations. This role ensures the development of a patient-focused, team-oriented culture by working with members of the interdisciplinary team in assigned hospitals. The Associate Regional CNO may also assist hospitals in preparation for regulatory surveys or perform other nursing leadership duties as identified by regional leadership.

  • Utilizing patient satisfaction data
  • Assessing compliance with programs and practices (STOP, API, bedside report, rounding)
  • Representing regional and national nursing expectations
  • Assessing orientation for new RNs
  • Assessing compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations
  • Reviewing staffing matrix and acuities
  • Ensuring appropriate nursing personnel for safe patient care
  • Reporting questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment
  • Supporting company/hospital patient satisfaction programs
  • Collaborating with other managers
  • Identifying and using appropriate resources
  • Complying with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines
  • Participating in regional, national conference calls, meetings and initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Regional CNO assignments and action planning with individual hospitals.
  • Coaches and mentors new and troubled CNOs in being an advocate and voice for the nursing department.
  • Coordinates all activities with the hospital CEO.
  • Reviews nurse leadership structure at assigned hospitals.
  • Sets expectations for accountability of nurse leader roles; role clarification or changes if needed.
  • Reviews staffing/scheduling, including challenges, vacancies, and turnover.
  • Assesses department interactions and evaluates the efficiency of interdisciplinary team relationships.
  • Evaluates the working relationship between nurses and physicians; coaches/mentors if needed.
  • Assesses and promotes senior team interaction/support.
  • Coordinates the CNO Preceptor Program for the region.
  • Rounds on units to identify what is working well and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilizes patient satisfaction data to implement processes to improve the patient experience.
  • Assesses compliance with programs and practices such as STOP, API, bedside report, and rounding.
  • Works with hospital leadership, representing regional and national nursing expectations.
  • Assesses orientation for new RNs; ensures onboarding is followed (1, 3, 6 month; annual check-in).
  • Assesses that Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations are being followed.
  • Reviews staffing matrix and acuities compared to actual staffing.
  • Ensures appropriate nursing personnel to provide safe patient care are present/assigned.
  • Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints, or harassment immediately.
  • Supports company/hospital patient satisfaction programs; works with hospitals to implement/sustain.
  • Collaborates with other managers to coordinate care, resolve concerns/complaints, and address needs.
  • Identifies and uses appropriate resources to effectively and successfully execute responsibilities.
  • Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Participates in regional, national conference calls, meetings, and initiatives as assigned.
