About The Position

The Associate Quality Assurance Specialist leads and advances quality assurance functions to ensure data, deliverables, and technical reports consistently meet established quality standards and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. This role provides oversight of drafting, review, coordination, and finalization of deliverables across the Operations Division (including Emergency Response, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Response & Recovery), partnering closely with technical teams and leadership to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness. Operating with increased independence, the Associate supports and enhances the Quality Management System (QMS), monitors quality performance metrics, identifies trends or risks, and recommends corrective actions to strengthen operational quality control processes. As part of the Quality Management group, the role also contributes to proposals, plans, specifications, and training materials while reinforcing a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or technical writing with 3-5 years of experience in scientific quality assurance and data analysis.
  • General knowledge of occupational exposure guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret state and federal regulations.
  • General knowledge of environmental sampling strategies.
  • Ability to write, review and implement work plans to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced computer and data management skills in a Windows-based platform with expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (required).
  • Science background or knowledge (required)
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends (as necessary).

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, coordination, review, and submission of final technical reports for ER, IH, and other divisions, ensuring consistency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client expectations.
  • Serves as a cross-functional liaison across Emergency Response/Industrial Hygiene/Response & Recovery/Environments/etc., aligning technical teams, laboratories, Data Managers, Project Technical Directors, and Project Managers to drive timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Provides oversight and guidance in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and project work plans to ensure data quality objectives and regulatory standards are fully integrated and achieved.
  • Proactively engages project teams throughout the project lifecycle to validate data integrity, technical accuracy, and adherence to established quality standards prior to final report completion.
  • Champions and institutionalizes quality assurance best practices and standardized processes to strengthen consistency and operational excellence across divisions.
  • Leads root cause analyses, synthesizes quality data insights, and drives the implementation of corrective and preventative actions to mitigate risk and improve outcomes.
  • Analyzes quality performance metrics and reporting workflows, recommending and implementing enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Contributes to the strategic advancement of Emergency Response’s Quality Management System (QMS) and broader quality initiatives, including the development and execution of new quality programs.
  • Designs, implements, and monitors measurable QA/QC evaluation frameworks for deliverables across the Operations Division.
  • Facilitates or leads participation in Hotwashes/After Action Reviews, translating lessons learned into actionable process improvements.
  • Identifies, escalates, and coordinates resolution of complex quality issues across multiple departments, ensuring timely communication and sustainable solutions.
  • Works closely with internal departments and/or external clients to determine quality assurance needs and resolve quality problems quickly
  • Leads and facilitates training initiatives to strengthen staff capabilities in effective technical writing, data quality standards, and quality control best practices across divisions.
  • Designs and conducts quality testing protocols and oversees in-process inspections to ensure consistent adherence to established quality and regulatory standards.
  • Serves as a subject matter resource and primary liaison on quality assurance matters, providing guidance, interpretation, and recommendations to project teams and leadership.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to broader Quality Management and operational excellence initiatives.
