Quality Assurance Specialist
About The Position
The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to be responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Supervisory and Manager in the operation of Quality Control/Assurance department. This role provides support for other departments such as Sales and Customer Service.
Requirements
- Associates degree in food safety or relate field; Bachelor’s degree preferred, HACCP certification preferred.
- 2 years of related experience in food manufacturing, preferably in tomato processing industry or, any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this position.
- Knowledge of Safe Quality Food processes and programs.
- Knowledge of USDA grading procedures for tomatoes and segregation protocols.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Responsibilities
- Prepares and sends out Certificates of Analyis (COAs).
- Locates, retrieves, labels, package and ships samples using the inventory control system and additional support tools.
- Maintains and organizes the Best Foot Forward samples per QA Manager’s instructions.
- Responds to inquiries regarding sample shipments via email, phone, or other forms of communication.
- Works with lab lead to coordinate samples for customer set-aside cuttings.
