Position Overview Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) seeks an accomplished and collaborative academic leader to serve as Associate Provost of Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty. Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Provost, the Associate Provost & Dean of the Faculty provides strategic and operational leadership for academic affairs, curriculum quality, assessment, and faculty affairs. The successful candidate will help advance academic excellence, student success, and continuous improvement across the College while ensuring that academic policies, programs, and faculty practices align with institutional priorities and applicable state and federal standards.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • Significant, progressively responsible experience in academic administration in higher education.
  • Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, academic program review, and learning-outcomes assessment.
  • Substantial experience managing faculty affairs, including faculty recruitment, evaluation, development, workload, promotion, or related processes.
  • Record of effective collaboration with faculty, academic leaders, staff, and governance bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of academic quality assurance, accreditation expectations, and evidence-based continuous improvement.
  • Excellent judgment, communication, organizational, and change-management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and to fostering an inclusive academic environment.
  • Experience at the dean, associate provost, or comparable senior academic-leadership level.
  • Experience with specialized or institutional accreditation and regulatory review.
  • Experience supporting a diverse, urban, and adult-learner population.
  • Experience with program development, alternative delivery models, and cross-functional academic initiatives.
  • Evidence of successful faculty development and improvement of teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the EVP & Provost, school leaders, faculty, and staff to implement MCNY’s academic strategy and strengthen the quality, relevance, and coherence of academic programs.
  • Lead and coordinate the design, revision, approval, implementation, and periodic review of curricula, academic programs, and related policies.
  • Oversee institution-wide academic assessment, including program learning outcomes, curriculum mapping, use of evidence, and improvement planning.
  • Provide leadership for faculty recruitment, appointment, orientation, workload, evaluation, development, promotion, retention, and related policies and processes.
  • Work productively with faculty governance bodies and academic committees; support transparent, inclusive, and timely decision-making.
  • Coordinate academic contributions to accreditation, program review, regulatory reporting, and other quality-assurance requirements.
  • Collaborate with academic and student-support leaders to improve teaching effectiveness, persistence, completion, and equitable student outcomes.
  • Evaluate opportunities for new programs, modalities, partnerships, and curricular innovation using mission, student demand, academic quality, and resource considerations.
  • Help oversee academic policies, course scheduling, faculty staffing, academic calendars, catalog content, and other assigned academic processes.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to identify priorities, monitor results, communicate findings, and guide resource allocation.
  • Supervise assigned personnel and cultivate a collegial, accountable, service-oriented culture across Academic Affairs.
  • Represent Academic Affairs on College committees and, as assigned, with external partners and professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the scope and level of the position.
