About The Position

Under the general direction of the Installation/Operations Manager and/or Senior Project Manager, you are responsible for the profitable execution of assigned Fire Installation projects, with a focus on transportation, commercial, and public sector portfolios. You will bridge the gap between engineering consultants, technical design, and field installation by utilizing hands-on problem-solving and strong communication skills. You will work with Sales and Operations Leadership, as well as other teams as needed, to support sales activities early in the project development process. This includes providing input on strategy, vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment. You will provide direction to project execution teams, which may include Engineers, Designers, Technicians, Project Coordinators, Estimators, and subcontractors, to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, billed appropriately, within budget, and within the scope of the contract. You are responsible for maintaining positive cash flow and actively pursuing change orders. You will also follow consistent, repeatable project management procedures and processes while maintaining an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and adapt in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, building systems, and municipal codes/regulations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both field teams and office staff
  • Willingness to travel to job sites based on project needs
  • Valid BC driver’s license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sprinkler or mechanical trades is an asset; general construction or project coordination/management experience will also be considered
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management, or a related field is an asset, but not required
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word), MS Project, Bluebeam, Fusion or similar tools is an asset, but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Support enforcement of company and site safety policies for all internal teams and subcontractors, under the direction of the Installation Manager or Senior Project Manager.
  • Assist in managing assigned project tasks, including tracking costs, resources, and risks to help deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Support on-site execution and coordination of field teams.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project execution plans (schedules, safety plans, staffing, and risk logs).
  • Review project scope and help assess impacts from client instructions, field changes, and schedule updates.
  • Assist with preparing change orders, cost estimates, and proposals.
  • Support project financials, including tracking accounts payable, billing, and collections.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator with timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Review contract documents and help ensure work is completed in line with project requirements and company standards.
  • Assist in monitoring project schedules and financial reports to identify potential issues and communicate updates to management.
  • Support risk tracking and help implement recovery plans when needed.
  • Assist in resolving project issues with guidance from senior leadership.
  • Assist in preparing RFPs, obtaining quotes, and supporting subcontractor procurement and administration.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure it meets contract and company requirements.
  • Assist with material coordination, including tracking orders and delivery schedules.
  • Support building positive relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Attend meetings and help communicate project expectations.
  • Coordinate with the Installation Manager and/or Senior Project Manager on labor and resource planning.
  • Support field installation, testing, and commissioning to ensure alignment with project requirements and standards.
  • Assist with project development activities alongside Operations and Sales teams.
  • Provide input on design and engineering performance to supervisors.
  • Support project closeout, including installation-to-service handover.
