About The Position

Mesa Associates, Inc. is a woman/minority-owned full service engineering, procurement, & construction management firm covering power, defense, aerospace, industrial, commercial and municipal entities. We specialize in power generation and delivery services including electrical high-voltage, substations, switchyard, transmission line, & distribution design. We have been in the top 10 of EC&M's Top 40 Electrical Design Firms since 2012. With over 1,000 associates, we are big enough to perform, but small enough to care! Mesa seeks an Associate Project Manager I that will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of utility projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and closeout. The Associate Project Manager I leads cross-functional teams, coordinates with internal departments and external stakeholders, and ensures that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to coordinate with and interface with clients, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and other electric utility personnel.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the full lifecycle of utility projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and closeout.
  • Leading cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinating with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinating with engineering, construction, operations, procurement, and external vendors.
  • Monitoring project performance metrics including earned value, cost variance, and schedule adherence.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and resolving technical and logistical challenges.
  • Communicating regularly with clients and stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Proactively communicating and promoting Mesa capabilities and strengths to their assigned customers.
  • Listening for and seeking out new project opportunities that solves the needs of the client.
  • Preparing meeting agendas, documenting meeting minutes, and tracking action items.
  • Updating project management systems and tools with task status, resource assignments, and milestone progress.
  • Participating in project kickoff, status, and closeout meetings.
  • Assisting with identifying and communicating project risks and issues.
  • Learning and applying project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
