Location This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to the Cadillac Service Center located in Cadillac, MI; Traverse City Service Center located in Traverse City, MI; Benzonia Service Center located in Benzonia, MI; Ludington Service Center located in Ludington, MI; or Boyne City Service Center located in Boyne City, MI.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate. About the Organization The Customer Energy Management (CEM) organization is seeking to fill two Associate Project Coordinator positions. This organization supports electric and gas customers across Northern Michigan, including the Traverse City, Cadillac, Benzonia, and Boyne City service areas. The team partners closely with internal delivery groups to manage customer‑facing energy projects, coordinate project execution, and ensure timely, compliant, and customer‑focused outcomes across multiple communities. The organization includes project coordination and customer energy management roles that support both operational delivery and continuous improvement efforts. General Summary of Job Responsibilities The Associate Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of both new and existing project requests. The incumbent assists Career and Senior level project coordinators in ensuring that the schedule, budget, and project details are properly managed and that tasks are well organized. This role utilizes knowledge of applicable project systems and programs to effectively prioritize and organize projects of varying sizes to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant rules, laws, and regulations pertaining to the department's functions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electric tariffs.
  • Knowledge of SAP notifications and billing.
  • Knowledge of typical contract and agreement terms and language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and non-verbally) with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and understand blueprints, drawings, property descriptions, and plans.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Time management and ability to prioritize stakeholder requests.
  • Knowledge of LEAN operating principles.
  • High School Diploma

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a storm role and assist with emergency operations and storm restoration as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining department standard work.
  • Coordinate project work, including estimating customer and system loads, generating tasks for other departments, providing cost estimates, identifying required permits, and scheduling work orders.
  • Determine project scope and evaluate design requirements and system impacts.
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries from various business partners.
  • Participate in department problem solving and waste elimination activities.
  • Prioritize workload to successfully complete projects and meet customer commitments.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional meetings.
  • Serve as a contact for customers to coordinate assigned CMS Energy Utility projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
