Peoples Gas Light & Coke Co, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Associate Project Controls Analyst in our Chicago, Illinois location. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the Chicago office. This is a job family (Associate Project Controls Analyst, Project Controls Analyst, Senior Project Controls Analyst) where experience is the determining factor. Job Summary The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for supporting cost of limited scope and complexity on a variety of projects and provides cross-departmental support. Assignments will include preparing cost reports, cost variance analysis, and preparing ad-hoc reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management
  • 0-2 yrs. relevant project controls experience (internship/co-op experience may be included as relevant project controls experience).
  • Experience with various computer software, specifically Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with PowerPlan, PeopleSoft, SAP, Primavera P6, and/or Microsoft Access
  • Strong understanding of cost control principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Familiarity with PMO governance and earned value management
  • Proficient in cost management systems (SAP, SAP Business Warehouse, Maximo) Estimating Tool) and scheduling tools (Primavera P6)
  • Skilled in financial reporting and risk identification
  • Effective communicator with technical teams, executives, and regulators
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from Project Managers, Finance, and leadership

Responsibilities

  • Providing financial oversight, cost tracking, and analysis to support the successful delivery of capital projects.
  • Ensuring that project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures are accurately maintained and reported, supporting effective decision-making and compliance with Company governance and financial controls.
  • Collaborating closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Finance, and Supply Chain to maintain financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitoring performance, managing cost risks, performing cost variance analysis, and ensuring alignment between project execution and program-level financial objectives.
  • Preparing cost reports, cost variance analysis, and preparing ad-hoc reporting.
