The Associate Professor provides leadership for all academic programs, working collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and the Dean of Academics to facilitate program development, implementation, evaluation, and assessment. This role ensures the systematic review of programs to maintain quality, current course content, best practices, and adherence to regulatory standards. The Associate Professor also serves on assigned committees and reports to the relevant program coordinator. Personnel duties include participating in faculty hiring, arranging for class coverage, promoting positive departmental and campus relations, maintaining office hours for student assistance, and modeling professional behavior. The role involves participating in professional development, including a minimum of 23 continuing education hours per year, with specific requirements for nursing educators. Additionally, the Associate Professor makes recommendations for equipment and software purchases. Administrative duties encompass budget planning, faculty meetings, accreditation reviews, curriculum development and revision, and student/faculty recruitment and orientation. Committee and meeting responsibilities include participation in program committees, advisory boards, and organization-wide committees. Advising duties involve guiding students academically and personally, developing remediation plans, scheduling meetings with at-risk students, and assisting them in utilizing resources. Curricula responsibilities include implementing syllabi, suggesting changes, designing new curriculum, and ensuring curricula align with institutional philosophy, mission, current trends, and community needs. Instructional duties involve classroom management, developing syllabi, utilizing diverse teaching methods, promoting active student involvement, demonstrating subject matter expertise, considering diverse backgrounds, fostering faculty-student collaboration, providing effective course materials, and performing clinical supervision as needed. Evaluation responsibilities include assessing students in didactic and clinical courses, participating in peer evaluations, reviewing student evaluation summaries for course improvement, and participating in program planning based on feedback. The workload for full-time faculty includes a teaching load of no more than 24 academic credits per year, 2-4 office hours per week, attendance at meetings, and participation in events. Professional responsibilities include up to 104 hours per year for professional development/scholarship/clinical currency and up to 104 hours per year for service to the institution. Community relations duties involve participating in advisory boards and publicizing program information.
