About The Position

The Department of Nursing in the Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences (MCNHS) at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor beginning September 1, 2027. This position offers the opportunity to join a diverse community of scholars whose research advances health equity across local and global settings. We seek an accomplished investigator with an established, externally funded program of research who will sustain and extend that work at UMass Boston, provide scholarly leadership within the Department, and mentor doctoral students and early-career faculty. The successful candidate will benefit from an established culture of collaboration and strong research infrastructure. Nursing scholarship at UMass Boston is grounded in health equity. Our faculty conduct research where health is shaped and delivered, collaborating with communities to address health challenges locally and globally. We welcome applicants whose scholarship aligns with or expands our strengths in areas such as, aging and gerontology, maternal and child health, community-engaged research, and clinically focused science, including cardiovascular health, diabetes, and oncology.

Requirements

  • An earned research doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in nursing or a related field
  • Eligibility for RN licensure in Massachusetts
  • A record of research, teaching, and service that merits appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure at the University of Massachusetts Boston
  • Current extramural funding as principal investigator that can be transferred to or sustained at UMass Boston, or a clearly articulated plan to secure such funding upon arrival
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and/or early-career faculty
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Appointment at the rank of Professor additionally requires a national or international reputation in the candidate’s area of science and a sustained history of continuous, competitive extramural funding as principal investigator.

Responsibilities

  • Sustain and expand an externally funded program of research as principal investigator
  • Teach and mentor student, including chairing and serving on dissertation committees

  • Provide leadership and service to the Department, College, University, and profession
  • Build and sustain research collaborations across the University and with our community partners
