About The Position

The Colorado School of Mines, a public R1 research university focused on applied science and engineering, is seeking a Tenure Track Associate Professor for the Department of Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Electronics. This role is part of a strategic initiative to expand in areas of existing strength and is ideal for individuals passionate about education and research in Earth, Energy, and Environment. The position is expected to start in August 2026. We are looking for candidates with research expertise in power electronics and advanced energy systems who are committed to addressing global sustainability challenges by educating future scientists and engineers. Successful candidates will have opportunities for collaboration through joint projects and shared students with the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) in Golden, Colorado.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a closely related discipline from an accredited program by the time the appointment begins.
  • Experience in academic, research lab, and/or industry and notable accomplishments in a related field.
  • Evidence or potential of interdisciplinary collaboration or engagement with power electronics.
  • Established and currently funded program at the Associate Professor level with clear potential for continuance, and a proven track record of success in teaching, research, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong active externally funded research program that leads to scholarly publications.
  • Develop and deliver course materials to undergraduate and graduate students in traditional, hybrid, and online platforms demonstrating teaching excellence and high-quality and high impact teaching pedagogy.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Establish and/or maintain a quality publication record.
  • Contribute both institutionally and professionally through active service.
  • Collaborate across campus and contribute to service in the areas of Power Electronics Systems and Advanced Energy Systems.
