About The Position

The Division of Social Work at the University of Wyoming is seeking a tenure-track Associate Professor who will also serve as the MSW Program Director. This full-time, 9-month position includes an additional month for administrative duties. The role involves teaching, research/scholarship, community engagement, and service. The position is based on campus in Laramie, Wyoming, requiring in-person teaching during scheduled intensive weekend sessions and evening classes via Zoom. The Division offers BSW and MSW programs with a hybrid format for the MSW program, combining online evening classes with intensive in-person weekend sessions. The MSW program operates on the main campus in Laramie and a part-time program at the UW-Casper campus. The Division is committed to human rights and dignity, seeking candidates with experience in social work practice, teaching, research, and administration, who possess leadership skills to advance the program. Strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy, social justice, engaged learning, distance teaching, and course development are desired. Experience in rural settings and strong interpersonal skills are also valued.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in social work or a closely related field.
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Five years of post-MSW practice experience.
  • Evidence of leadership experience in academia.
  • Strong record of research sufficient to warrant appointment at the Associate Professor rank.
  • Record of teaching in a social work program.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.
  • Ability and willingness to teach during evening classes and scheduled intensive weekend sessions.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Record of teaching in an MSW Program.
  • Experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work program.
  • Prior academic administrative experience at the university level.
  • Experience with online teaching and/or distance education programs.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and processes.
  • Experience in rural settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching, research/scholarship, service, and administrative leadership of the MSW Program.
  • Student recruitment, admissions, curriculum leadership, program administration and oversight for the MSW Program.
  • Teaching a range of MSW classes across curricula.
  • Scholarship.
  • University and community service.
  • Teaching evening and scheduled intensive weekend classes.
  • Travel within the state, primarily to the UW-Casper campus.
  • Teaching using distance delivery systems.
