About The Position

The Division of Social Work at the University of Wyoming is seeking a tenure-track Associate Professor who will also serve as the MSW Program Director. This is a 9-month, full-time position with an additional month for administrative duties. The role involves teaching, research/scholarship, community engagement, and service. The MSW program is offered in a hybrid format, combining online evening classes with intensive in-person weekend sessions, and includes both a full-time program on the main campus in Laramie and a part-time program at the UW-Casper campus. The Division is committed to scholarship, education, and practice grounded in human rights and dignity. The successful candidate will lead the MSW program, advance its excellence, and demonstrate a commitment to student-centered pedagogy, social justice, and engaged learning, with experience in distance teaching and course development being highly valued. Experience in rural settings and strong interpersonal skills are also desirable.

Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in social work or a closely related field.
• MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Five years of post-MSW practice experience.
• Evidence of leadership experience in academia.
• Strong record of research sufficient to warrant appointment at the Associate Professor rank (or established strong record for Assistant Professors prepared for promotion).
• Record of teaching in a social work program.
• Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.
• Ability and willingness to teach during evening classes and scheduled intensive weekend sessions.
• Eligibility to work in the United States; sponsorship for work authorization or visas is not available.

Nice To Haves

• Record of teaching in an MSW Program.
• Experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work program.
• Prior academic administrative experience at the university level.
• Experience with online teaching and/or distance education programs.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and processes.
• Experience in rural settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Teaching, research/scholarship, service, and administrative leadership of the MSW Program.
• Student recruitment, admissions, curriculum leadership, program administration and oversight for the MSW Program.
• Teaching a range of MSW classes across curricula.
• Conducting scholarship.
• Engaging in University and community service.
• Teaching evening and scheduled intensive weekend classes.
• Traveling within the state, primarily to the UW-Casper campus.
• Teaching using distance delivery systems.
