About The Position

Associate Production Retoucher Founded in 1919 as Phototype and recently rebranded as the Olberding Brand Family, we are a family company focused on delivering the highest quality and client service in the graphics design, management and printing industry. We Design, Optimize and Protect Brands. Our clients are primarily consumer products companies and printers and we help them by delivering a broad range of services from brand strategy and packaging design, to adaptive design across various print and digital platforms, all the way to color management and the production of printing plates. With our world headquarters located in Cincinnati, we have over 450 employees throughout the United States and offices in Europe and Asia. The Associate Production Retoucher is responsible for preparing press ready digital image files for offset, gravure and flexo printers from client-supplied files. This will include color separations, cloning, color corrections, clipping paths, color conversions, trapping, curves, evaluate for contaminating colors, etc. The Associate Production Retoucher maintains an effective and efficient workflow from the point the artwork (image) is scheduled to the proof stage. They also maintain direct and open communication with internal Account Managers Team and Production Teams and Quality Control Team to assure the final images meets the client’s and printer’s requirements.

Requirements

  • Expert in Photoshop; proficiency in Illustrator preferred
  • Good knowledge of consumer products packaging, creative design, production artwork and print services preferred
  • Proficient in major printing methods (Flexo, Gravure, Offset)
  • Understand Apple operating systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro and Acrobat
  • BS or BA in Graphics Design/Production, Printing or similar degree preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in packaging graphics, design and/or prepress
  • Consumer product company knowledge or experience
  • Graphics production technology background or experience, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work on CPG client jobs creating final press ready art images, which will include but not limited to trapping, color separations, screening specs, curves etc.
  • Color correct images to match client supplied targets
  • Verify final files meet client’s graphic and printer specifications
  • Evaluate images for print process; adjusting for minimum dots, highlight pushes, and contaminating colors
  • Maintain an effective comprehension of profiling and workflow procedures
  • Ensure accuracy on all orders so that orders flow efficiently and effectively
  • Follow SOPs to assure client’s requirements are met
