Associate Production Manager

Stellar Creative LabVancouver, BC
CA$70,000 - CA$83,000Hybrid

About The Position

At Stellar, we aim to build a studio where people actually want to work. We face production's inevitable ups and downs as a supportive, truly connected team, prioritizing open communication over anyone working in isolation. We value honesty, creativity, and looking out for one another. We are staffing up for a new Marvel Studios streaming series. Yes, the project is amazing, but we also know the reality of the industry: episodic animation moves fast, and the pressure can be high. We are looking for an Associate Production Manager who deeply understands the 2.5D pipeline and knows how to keep a show on track while fiercely protecting the well being of the crew. We do not need a cheerleader; we need a highly organized, empathetic problem solver. If you are the kind of production leader who focuses on removing roadblocks, running efficient meetings that respect people's time, and keeping the data clean so nobody has to guess what is going on, you are exactly who we are looking for.

Requirements

  • 3 plus years of production management experience specifically within a 3D animation or VFX pipeline. You need to know how a 3D asset actually moves through the pipeline to effectively schedule it.
  • High emotional intelligence combined with exceptional organizational skills. You stay calm and constructive when production inevitably throws a curveball.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. You know how to translate technical feedback and deliver clear, direct updates to both artists and studio leadership.
  • Highly proficient with Flow Production Tracking, Google Suite, and Excel.
  • You must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience managing teams specifically on fast paced episodic television or streaming series.
  • A strong interest in workflow optimization, constantly looking for ways to cut out busywork and make the day to day smoother for the crew.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Production Manager to map out realistic schedules across assigned departments.
  • Track quotas and artist progress, spot and flag bottlenecks early so we can pivot before they turn into blockers.
  • Proactively flag schedule variances, technical blockers, or departmental handoff delays to the Production Manager and offer actionable solutions.
  • Supervise Production Coordinators/Assistants of assigned departments, delegate administrative tasks, note-taking, and support their career development with the PM.
  • Assist the PM in adjusting artist assignments based on individual strengths and episode complexity.
  • Prepare weekly status reports and milestone summaries for the Production Manager and the Line Producer.
  • Be the bridge between the artists, supervisors, and leadership. Check in to actually help remove roadblocks.
  • Run dailies efficiently. Keep the meetings focused, take clear notes, and ensure everyone walks away fully aligned on feedback and next steps.
  • Ensure clean handoffs upstream and downstream asset/shot handoffs.
  • Keep ShotGrid immaculate. You know that messy data creates unnecessary stress for the artists, and you take pride in keeping our tracking software accurate and reliable.
  • Manage client deliveries and reviews, ensuring feedback is distributed to the floor clearly, quickly, and with full context.

Benefits

  • Flexible hybrid schedule that will vary with project and team requirements.
  • Extended health benefits.
  • Professional development support to help you stay ahead of tech and creative trends.
  • A collaborative, ego-free environment where technical expertise fuels creative magic.
