About The Position

The Fundamental Equities business, part of BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG), manages over $200bn in assets across 75+ strategies and more than 200 investment professionals globally. The Fundamental Equities platform uses traditional bottom-up analytics to identify high-conviction investment ideas and construct diversified portfolios. The Sectors & Thematics platform within Fundamental Equities manages approximately $80bn in assets, supporting thematic, sector, and specialist equity strategies. The Product Strategy team drives the commercial success of this platform by connecting investment capabilities with client needs and distribution partners. This role operates at the intersection of portfolio management, distribution, and product, translating investment insights into client narratives, equipping distribution teams, and shaping the product and commercial agenda. The Product Strategy model includes Client Product Strategy (client engagement), Core Product Strategy (servicing, communication, content), and Platform Strategy (data, technology, workflow innovation). The function is responsible for investment communication, commercial enablement, client servicing, and developing scalable processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in asset management, equity research, product strategy, investment strategy, client engagement, sales, account management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of equity markets and investment processes, with an interest in thematic, sector, and growth-oriented investing.
  • High proficiency in using AI to enhance business and personal productivity.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret portfolio, performance, attribution, and market data.
  • Experience communicating investment ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across investment, commercial, product management, risk, and legal/compliance teams.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Typically, 3-6 years of relevant experience with demonstrated analytical, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise across Thematics & Sectors investment strategies, including portfolio positioning, performance drivers, market opportunities, and competitive differentiation.
  • Partner closely with portfolio managers to articulate investment insights and translate complex investment concepts into compelling client-facing narratives.
  • Support client retention and asset growth through partnership with distribution teams and participation in client, consultant, and prospect engagements.
  • Create, enhance, and maintain high-quality marketing materials, presentations, commentaries, and thought leadership content.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, attribution, holdings, exposures, flows, and market developments to produce actionable insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to product positioning, defense messaging, market narratives, and commercial strategy across the product lifecycle.
  • Support strategic initiatives including new product development, product evolution, business expansion opportunities, and platform-wide priorities.
  • Partner with colleagues across Product Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Risk, and Portfolio Management to deliver a consistent and scalable client experience.
  • Respond to complex client and consultant inquiries and serve as a key liaison between investment teams and business partners.
  • For more experienced candidates, lead strategic projects, drive commercial initiatives, mentor junior team members, and represent the platform in client engagements.
