As an integrated part of the team, you proactively assess legal risks and advise on products that will not only move information into the 21st century, but move information law forward as well. The Cloud Security Legal team supports Google Cloud’s suite of security and sovereignty offerings. The team advises product, engineering, policy, and compliance teams on the impact of global cybersecurity and sovereignty regulations on Cloud’s business and customers. This role initially focuses on several of the following areas: security incidents, outages, vulnerabilities, and digital sovereignty. In this role, you will partner with incident, outage, and vulnerability response teams to set response strategy, determine reporting obligations, and design scalable approaches in the wake of the agentic revolution. Additionally, you will support clients and key stakeholders as they build products and advocacy strategies in response to shifting customer and regulator expectations with respect to sovereignty. 20th century laws don't always solve 21st century problems, and Google Legal crafts innovative approaches for working with some of the toughest legal challenges of the information age. Requirements

JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
3 years of attorney-level experience in-house, or at a law firm.
Experience counseling security and/or sovereignty products or regulations.

Experience in utilizing AI tools to streamline and scale legal support.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic legal guidance to product, engineering, and policy teams building security and sovereignty offerings, supporting product design and advocacy strategies.
Partner with incident, outage, and vulnerability response teams to set strategy, determine reporting obligations, and scale approaches in the wake of the agentic revolution.
Analyze global cybersecurity and sovereignty regulations to provide pragmatic risk assessments throughout the product development lifecycle.
Support commercial legal and sales teams on customer inquiries and negotiations involving security and sovereignty matters.
