About The Position

The Associate Process Engineer is a key member of the Chromalloy New York Engineering Organization, responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), production, and development of high-pressure turbine airfoils, duct segments, and related aerospace engine components. This role combines product engineering expertise with advanced manufacturing and automation initiatives to improve repair processes, increase operational efficiency, and support strategic engine programs. The engineer will provide technical support for repair operations by reviewing engine manuals and technical data, developing and implementing repair procedures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives through automation and advanced manufacturing technologies. This position offers hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, automation systems, robotics, controls, data acquisition, and system integration while working closely with experienced engineering and operations teams. Must be willing to work onsite in Orangeburg, NY. No work from home option available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, repair processes, or advanced manufacturing technologies preferred.
  • Familiarity with automation systems, robotics, PLCs, controls, data acquisition, or industrial software is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and communicate with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated interest in manufacturing process development, automation, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD, process validation, statistical analysis, or manufacturing systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate must be a self-starter as well as collaborate effectively in an integrated team environment to develop robust manufacturing processes that meet site, corporate and customer requirements for schedule, cost, performance.
  • Collaborate with Repair Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Customer Support, and Chromalloy Centers of Excellence to resolve technical issues and improve process capability.
  • Lead and participate in technical reviews, root cause investigations, process qualification activities, and production readiness assessments.
  • Support the design, development, testing, and deployment of automated manufacturing and inspection solutions to enhance repair process consistency, quality, and throughput.
  • Assist with system integration activities involving robotics, controls, software, sensors, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Analyze manufacturing and repair process data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Support development projects, new repair introductions, and strategic engine platform initiatives.
  • Generate technical documentation, work instructions, process specifications, validation reports, and engineering change documentation.
  • Provide regular project status updates and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders in a matrix organization.
