About The Position

Motiva is seeking Associate Process Engineers to join the Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex. The Associate Process Engineer designs, optimizes, and maintains refinery processes to ensure efficient operation and production. This role analyzes data, troubleshoots issues, and implements improvements to ensure excellence in process safety, reliability, energy consumption, and cost management. The Associate Process Engineer utilizes daily proactive monitoring and works closely with business teams to ensure product plan delivery.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering by May 2026
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA, or higher
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Effective teamwork in cross-functional situations

  • 1-3 years of relevant process engineering experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily proactive technical monitoring and troubleshooting for assigned areas.
  • Provide guidance around daily unit optimization as it relates to product yields and quality, catalyst life, equipment health, chemical usage, energy consumption, alarm management, emissions calculations, and economics.
  • Routinely conduct and document unit mass balance monitoring.
  • Utilize Causal Learning methodology for problem solving and participate in investigations.
  • Lead and participate in Process Safety Management work practices such as Management of Change and Process Hazard Analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for margin and energy improvements and drive changes to capture these opportunities via established work processes.
  • Provide process engineering support for turnaround (TA) planning and execution to ensure reliability and TA objectives are met.
  • Provide support to capital projects to ensure proper implementation and performance when integrated into existing operating units and systems.
  • Provide monthly technical assurance reporting to Motiva stakeholders.
  • Provide “off hour” and “around the clock” shift coverage for planned unit shutdowns and unplanned unit upsets.
