About The Position

The Associate Preschool Teacher will work with and support the Head Teacher to ensure that the developmental goals of Reade Street Prep’s programs are being met. Targeted lesson planning, thoughtful self-reflections, ongoing student progress reports, and regular parent and colleague communication are key responsibilities. The Preschool Associate Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with the Reade Street Prep Teacher Handbook and is expected to work collegially with other staff members. The Explorers program is for children aged 2 – 3 ½ years in September, with up to 12 students.

  • Ensure compliance with the Reade Street Prep Teacher Handbook.
  • Work collegially with other staff members.
  • Create and document daily lesson plans aligned with the Reade Street Prep curriculum.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Adapt instruction and materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  • Ensure lessons and activities are creative, interactive, and engaging for all students.
  • Collaborate with Spanish immersion teachers.
  • Exhibit professional conduct with parents and colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective relationships with staff.
  • Arrive in classroom at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled class start.
  • Remain after each session to ensure room is left in proper order.
  • Maintain ongoing partnerships with classroom parents.
  • Send weekly email updates to parents.
  • Maintain records of students’ progress, routines, and interests.
  • Keep parents informed about their child’s development.
  • Complete student progress reports twice a year.
  • Lead parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
  • Complete “curriculum checklist” for each student five times a year.
  • Write reports to ongoing schools as needed.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and professional development sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively in the classroom with the Head Teacher.
  • Assist the Head Teacher in the organization and execution of developmentally appropriate learning experiences and care-giving that promotes physical, mental, and social development.
  • Create and document daily lesson plans aligned with the Reade Street Prep curriculum.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Adapt instruction and materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  • Ensure lessons and activities are creative, interactive, and engaging for all students.
  • Collaborate with your counterpart Spanish immersion teachers to establish a synergetic curriculum that is both appropriate and engaging.
  • Exhibit professional conduct with parents and colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective relationships with staff.
  • Arrive in your classroom at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each class and remain for a reasonable time after each session to ensure the room is left in proper order.
  • Maintain ongoing partnerships with classroom parents via emails, meetings, and conversations as needed.
  • Send weekly email to classroom parents every Friday, updating them on classroom activities and current learning objectives.
  • Maintain records of students’ progress, routines, and interests.
  • Keep parents informed about their child’s development.
  • Complete student progress reports twice a year.
  • Lead parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
  • Complete “curriculum checklist” for each student five times a year.
  • Write reports to ongoing schools as needed.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and professional development sessions, including the first Friday of each month from 7:30 am to 8:15 am.
