About The Position

The Associate Portfolio Manager, Multi-Asset and Currency Management will report to the Director, Multi-Asset and Currency research. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, frequent, and actionable investment research, grounded in well-articulated, forward-looking insights, to influence portfolio decisions. The incumbent will conduct risk analysis and thematic research to support portfolio management and contribute to the development of economic and financial market models. CIBC offers a flexible work environment, with specific on-site and remote work arrangements to be discussed during the interview. As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines, and controls, and must be registrable to the various securities commissions across Canada.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Economics, International Finance or related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in high-quality macroeconomic analysis within financial markets
  • Strong grasp of global macroeconomic dynamics, central banking, and capital markets
  • Proficient with research and quantitative modeling tools (such as PowerBI, EViews, and Python)
  • Excel in communication, writing, and presentation, enabling you to clearly convey complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Mature, with strong interpersonal skills that allow you to thrive in a collaborative, teamwork-oriented environment
  • Demonstrate ownership, take initiatives and are eager to learn from mistakes
  • Consistently strive for excellence—even under pressure and uncertainty, and with limited guidance
  • Strong critical thinking skills—you can navigate complex situations effectively

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, frequent, and actionable investment research grounded in well-articulated, forward-looking insights to influence portfolio decisions
  • Conduct risk analysis and thematic research to support portfolio management
  • Contribute to the development of economic and financial market models
  • Leverage deep understanding of financial markets and macroeconomic trends to deliver timely and actionable investment research that drives informed investment decisions
  • Interpret complex market signals, identify emerging risks and opportunities
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where ability to make informed decisions under pressure is valued and essential
  • Deliver frequent and high-quality analysis and present findings to key stakeholders
  • Construct econometric models (Python, Eviews) to forecast expected returns in various asset classes (FX, yields, equities, options, commodities)
  • Contribute to the development of our internal communication and research platforms (PowerBI, Python)
  • Comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls
  • Be registrable to the various securities commissions across Canada
