WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Plumbing Engineer for our Denver, CO office. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 1-3 years of relevant plumbing engineering experience supporting building systems projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Familiarity with plumbing design principles, codes, and standards.
- Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of construction documents, engineering calculations, and design coordination processes.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
Nice To Haves
- Experience designing plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, or mixed-use buildings.
- Familiarity with International Plumbing Code (IPC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), and applicable Colorado codes.
- Experience with BIM coordination and Revit-based project delivery.
- LEED accreditation or interest in sustainable building design.
- Previous internship or consulting engineering experience within the AEC industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and documentation of plumbing systems for building projects, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, and specialty piping systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system evaluations under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Develop plumbing layouts, riser diagrams, schedules, specifications, and construction documents.
- Coordinate plumbing designs with mechanical, electrical, fire protection, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Support project development from concept through construction administration.
- Participate in site visits, field investigations, and existing condition assessments.
- Assist with reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and submittits during construction.
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and regulations to plumbing system designs.
- Support quality assurance and quality control reviews to help ensure accurate and coordinated project deliverables.
- Utilize Revit and other design tools to develop building information models and engineering documentation.
- Contribute to sustainable and energy-conscious design solutions aligned with WSP's Future Ready® initiatives.
- Remain current with emerging technologies, codes, and industry best practices.
