About The Position

This position is for an Associate PCT and Patient Care Technician in the Float Pool at Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. It is a Full-time position working 12-hour Day shifts. This posting is a general application for current or future interested applicants for Associate Patient Care Technician and Patient Care Technician roles at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center. Opportunities may be available for on-call, part-time, and full-time positions across different shifts. Under the general supervision of an RN, the Patient Care Tech provides basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients, collects and reports information, and completes patient care documentation. Specific assignments include Cardiopulmonary, Medical/Surgical/Oncology, and Resource Float Pool. The dual role of Patient Care Tech/Unit Secretary also provides clerical support to facilitate patient care. Requirements

  • For hires after 10/31/16: Completion of a CNA program, or Completion of first semester nursing program, or EMT program completion.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Experience with basic data entry.
  • California Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire or California Emergency Medical Technician License upon hire (for PCT role).

Nice To Haves

  • EKG Training.
  • 1 year of acute patient care experience.
  • 6 months experience in a direct patient care environment.
  • Satisfactory completion of a medical terminology course, or knowledge of medical terminology (for PCT role).
  • 6 months experience in a direct patient care environment providing clerical or patient support related to Provider, patient documentation or charting (for PCT role).

Responsibilities

  • Providing basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients as needed, within their specified area(s).
  • Collecting and reporting of information to the supervising RN.
  • Completion of all patient care related documentation.
  • Assisting with orthopedic devices (adult, geriatric) for Medical/Surgical/Oncology assignments.
  • Providing clerical support to assist in facilitating patient care for the dual role Patient Care Tech/Unit Secretary.
