About The Position

This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. This role has a primary focus on packaging engineering, including troubleshooting, validation, and optimization of packaging systems for medical devices. The position supports packaging performance, product protection, sterilization compatibility, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency across the product lifecycle. The Associate Packaging Equipment Engineer is primarily responsible for analyzing technological trends, designing and modifying processes, and resolving engineering issues to enhance team performance and operational efficiency at our Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized technical tasks and conduct research to optimize project outcomes.
  • Design new processes and modify existing ones to improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate and resolve issues related to manufacturing, design, quality, and material engineering.
  • Develop test procedures, estimate costs, and plan and execute projects while managing project and operational budgets and supervising contractors.
  • Establish engineering standards and budgetary controls.
  • Introduce new or modified equipment, tools, software, and systems.
  • Collaborate with others to assess engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand.
  • Make informed decisions within the scope of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail, effective communication, and task management skills.
  • Meet individual job requirements and contribute to organizational compliance.
  • Commit to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training.
