About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Associate Optical Design and Analysis Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico developing advanced concepts on a DOD propriety program. We are seeking candidates with experience in design and analysis of complex optical assemblies or systems. This position will work with extremely talented, high performing, multi-disciplined engineering teams to work on start-of-the-art adaptive optics and optical imaging systems. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including experienced and lead level engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 2+ years of experience in design and/or modeling electro-optical systems such as Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, or similar
  • 2+ years of experience using scientific programming languages (i.e. python, MATLAB, etc.) for data analysis and/or modeling
  • Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in optical, electrical engineering or physics
  • Experience working with adaptive optics systems
  • Experience with data processing and image analysis techniques
  • Experience designing and integrating complex optical systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop subsystem architecture and designs of optical systems, assemblies, components, etc. to be integrated into higher level systems and platforms
  • Define optical systems, assemblies, components, etc. performance and tolerance requirements
  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict components, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements
  • Define and conduct tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements
  • Analyze data to validate designs of complex optical systems, components, etc.
