About The Position

Extensively assists and supports Quality Engineers and Process/Manufacturing Engineers by providing production expertise to resolve Quality issues within the production operation. Monitors process, component and product quality problems, escalates to supervisor as required, and helps support the investigation. Will provide functional guidance or demonstrate work methods to new employees. Incumbents carry out assignments within well-defined practices, procedures and policies. Works independently on details of assignments, and has expanded decision-making authority; critical decisions are made or guided by the immediate supervisor. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department's/divisions goals. Works under minimal Supervision and independently drives how assignments are to be executed and puts forward ideas on how work assignments are completed. Establishes cooperative relationships to work effectively with colleagues; leads and supports others and takes responsibility for own and Product Qualification Testing team work commitments. Interacts directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored. Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Functions as Product Qualification Testing Lead (Quality Specialist) across all accounts (Commercial and Aerospace) Primary point of contact for all production quality issues on NPI product launches collaborating closely with other NPI teams Very strong visual inspection skills required to identify and/or referee non-conformities on product including prototypes Supports and verifies the identification and processing of internal non-conforming materials for proper disposition through MRB Ensures that the implemented changes and corrective action to rectify non-conformance issues are respected in the manufacturing line. Actively participating in root cause analysis and solving problems. Performs First Article Assessment activities. Supports internal, industry and customer audits as required. Supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes. Supports TotalInspection, SourceInspection, Delegated Product Release Verification (Externally trained) Drives Purge process (Quarantine, Assessment, Inspection, Closure) Participates in RAPTOR audits and runs Monthly Defect Reports to address systemic issues Performs inspection on NPI Programs using IPC (including Space Addendum) knowledge Actively drives RFPY improvements on a specific portfolio of Customer products Participates in 8D problem solving Performs activities identified related to the Key process and product characteristics, gives feedback for improvements.

Requirements

  • Ability to exercise good judgment in providing quality and functional guidance and ability to demonstrate work methods to new employee and team members.
  • Leadership experience in reallocating resources and priorities as needed to achieve commitments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of quality and manufacturing standards (AS9100, ISO9001, ESD, Space Addendum, SPOC, J-STD-001 etc).
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications and the ability to perform tasks using Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Enterprise Suite, PowerBI, AI Tools.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of shop floor control and quality management documentation systems such as Spectrum Pro, EtQ.
  • Skills for evaluating, gathering data, diagnosing and solving problems encountered in the manufacturing.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding in quality improvements techniques.
  • Well organized.
  • 3 - 6 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
