Associate Operations Manager, Engineering Testing
About The Position
DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash focused on exploring robotics and automation to transform last-mile logistics. This role is for an experienced operations leader to manage and scale the Robot Engineering Testing organization. The position will oversee operators and team leads, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of testing and deployment activities. The role involves driving operational performance, defining scalable systems and workflows, and collaborating with engineering, product, and program teams. The individual will be a key leader in Dev Testing Operations, shaping the validation and deployment of autonomous technologies.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or complex operational environments.
- Proven experience leading teams and developing leaders in fast-paced, cross-functional settings.
- Strong ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Experience scaling operations, processes, and workflows in growing organizations.
- Deep commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making and performance metrics.
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Slack, Google Workspace, Linux, GitHub, or similar platforms.
- Ability to adapt and lead effectively in dynamic, evolving environments.
Responsibilities
- Own the testing operations organization, managing operators and team leads across multiple levels.
- Set the strategic vision for testing and deployment, aligning operations with engineering and product roadmaps.
- Drive day-to-day operational performance, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution across environments.
- Build and scale workflows, processes, and systems to support growing testing complexity and deployment needs.
- Champion a strong safety culture, setting standards and ensuring consistent adherence across all operations.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, product, TPM, and deployment teams to improve system performance and readiness.
- Leverage QA, data, and reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Develop and mentor team members and leaders, building a high-performing, accountable organization.
- Represent testing operations in leadership discussions, providing insights and recommendations to guide strategy.
