About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) is responsible for managing and supervising activities in an assigned nursing area, on a specific shift. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Provides operational leadership for the assigned patient care area during designated shifts to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care and appropriate staffing. Coordinates daily clinical operations by managing patient flow, staffing assignments, patient acuity, and resource utilization to support quality outcomes and operational efficiency. Provides direct clinical support and serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, assisting with complex patient care situations, emergencies, and staffing needs. Promotes safe, evidence-based nursing practice by monitoring compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies. Monitors patient care quality through clinical rounding, chart audits, quality reviews, incident follow-up, and implementation of corrective actions to improve outcomes. Supports workforce development by participating in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, coaching, performance feedback, and annual performance evaluations. Assists with workforce management by participating in scheduling, staffing adjustments, attendance management, and productivity oversight to meet patient care needs. Addresses patient, family, physician, and employee concerns promptly and professionally to promote service excellence and effective problem resolution. Provides supervisory oversight by exercising delegated supervisory authority, including recommendations regarding hiring, performance management, corrective action, and employee relations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager. Functions in designated leadership roles, including Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Team Leader, or other operational leadership assignments as required. Facilitates communication and coordination among interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, effective care transitions, and achievement of departmental objectives. Participates in organizational quality, safety, regulatory, and performance improvement initiatives, including leadership rounding, committee participation, and implementation of system priorities. Maintains clinical competence and leadership proficiency through required education, professional development, leadership training, and ongoing competency validation. Provides direct patient care as needed, including assessment, development and implementation of the nursing plan of care, patient and family education, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes in accordance with professional standards. Performs other leadership and clinical responsibilities necessary to support departmental and organizational operations. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio or if working in WV will need WV Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Attend leadership classes/ Frontline 50.
  • ACLS within 1 year of employment required.
  • Maintains compliance in RQI required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred.
