About The Position

The Associate Merchandiser collaborates with the lead Merchandiser on the execution of departmental strategies and business objectives; is responsible for translating information and ideas that contribute to an actionable business plan; and supports the department with any necessary tactical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or Merchandising, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of related experience in Merchandising in Retail.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of retail financial measurements.
  • Strong fashion sense, with a sense of brand and client needs.
  • Strong business acumen with potential to grow into a Merchant role.
  • Ability to be an active listener and take direction.
  • Strong self-management and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented, with excellent follow-through skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of departmental strategies and business objectives to achieve or exceed financial plans.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
  • Analyze business trends, recommend actions, and apply insights to future departmental strategies.
  • Provide applicable historical information and market research.
  • Manage daily merchandising tasks, including assortment sheets, receipt updates, sample accuracy, handoffs, and timely cross-functional communication.
  • Prepare materials for key Product Lifecycle meetings, including Hindsight and Investment Review.
  • Research fashion trends, pricing, promotions, and competitive activity; make recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrate strong awareness of retail landscape.
  • Collaborate with lead Merchandiser on building assortment.
  • Recommend style ranking and attributes and chase/cancel strategies.
  • Provide information and ideas to support development of seasonal strategies.
  • Actively participate on Cross-Functional team and make recommendations to drive results.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and contribute as a solution-oriented team member.
  • Demonstrate ability to affect key decisions within the Cross-Functional team.
