As an Associate Buyer, you’ll join Loblaw’s Business Enablement & Enterprise Procurement (BEEP) Team, a group of world-class procurement professions accountable for purchasing goods on behalf of our retail divisions which represent more than 3,000 stores from coast to coast. Reporting to our , you’ll work alongside the Buyer(s) to support every aspect of category procurement including domestic and offshore sourcing, vendor relationship and performance management, RFPs, costing, supply risk management, quality management, vendor onboarding and much more.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • A curious mindset paired with creativity and ambition.
  • Foundational understanding of key financial indicators such as margin, sales performance metrics, and shrink.
  • Eagerness to strengthen financial acumen and apply it to strategic merchandising decisions.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority while collaborating efficiently across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in using data analytics for driving innovative insights.
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel PowerPoint & Teams along confidence working various software platforms
  • 1+ years in a procurement, supply chain or retail merchandising role.
  • Confident, with an ability to prioritize many projects at the same time and collaborate with cross-functional collaborators.
  • Financial, business and retail knowledge.
  • Strong relationship-management skills and a winsome communication style.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Retail Sales Merchandising—or familiarity with retail/financial/business processes—is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with diverse business units to drive category success.
  • Manage and resolve store inquiries in collaboration with operators to ensure effective communication and timely issue resolution.
  • Build strong partnerships with vendors and external partners that fuel growth and innovation.
  • Support the execution of pricing and promotional strategies, ensuring accuracy and timely implementation, including data-entry, data-integrity management, flyer/digital/instore advertising accuracy, vendor income collection, inventory management, store communications and retail pricing.
  • Leverage analytics to provide strategic insights on category performance for your Merchant(s) and Category Director. This includes analyzing trends, reviewing competitive activity, and utilizing both internal and external reporting tools to deliver actionable recommendations that drive informed decision-making and category growth.
  • Spearhead product assortment planning and coordinate planogram executions while maintaining impeccable data integrity.
  • Manage the financial activity of the category including managing vendor income billings, conducting analysis, and collaborating with Merchant(s), vendor(s) and finance team to investigate and resolve income inquiries.
  • Guide vendors through onboarding processes smoothly while managing transitions or cost changes effortlessly.
  • Actively participate in vendor program meetings; evaluate new private label products or platform innovations that set us apart from competitors.
  • Support the Director and Buyer(s) with vendor performance management, generating data, conducting analysis, and preparing presentation material.
  • Maintain all system data for the category, ensuring we have end-to-end accuracy in all aspects of our Seafood product portfolio, including vendor costing.
  • Facilitate vendor onboarding activities and provide administrative ownership of new product creation in collaboration with our Vendor Onboarding and Data Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with our supply chain, merchandising, private label, and international sourcing teams to resolve product availability and fulfilment challenges.
  • Support the Director and Buyer(s) with other ad-hoc administrative activities as assigned.
  • Proudly represent the Seafood category with the BEEP Team.
