Associate Merchant - Notetaking
About The Position
The Associate Merchant supports category management by assisting with supplier negotiations, purchase order administration, and item setup for both stores and online channels. This role collaborates cross-functionally to resolve supplier issues, execute customer communication programs, and maintain product content accuracy. Utilizing data analysis and financial tracking, the Associate Merchant contributes to forecasting, budgeting, and promotional planning. The position requires strong vendor relationship management and strategic support to enhance customer experience and drive category performance while adhering to company policies and operational standards. About the team: The team supports category management by overseeing supplier relationships, purchase orders, and item setup. They collaborate closely with merchants and vendors to ensure accurate product information and smooth supplier negotiations. The team leverages data analysis to inform category strategy and supports promotional activities across stores and online channels. Focused on delivering quality customer experiences, they manage communications and training initiatives while maintaining compliance with company policies. Requirements
- Proven experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within retail or related sectors.
- Strong skills in category strategy development and execution to support merchandising goals.
- Ability to analyze data effectively to derive insights and inform business decisions.
- Proficiency in managing purchase orders and resolving supplier-related issues efficiently.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking at the category or subcategory level.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with merchants, planners, and modular teams.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, compliance, and ethical business practices.
- 2 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.

Responsibilities
- Support supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories.
- Assist merchants with supplier issue resolution and new supplier setup for stores and online.
- Execute customer communication and education programs to enhance shopper experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate product content and search query quality.
- Track category financial performance and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Develop and implement feature proposals and modular assortment strategies.
- Leverage data analysis tools to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to align with business objectives.
