We are looking for an Associate Merchandise Planner to join our Merchandising Team. This individual will report into our Senior Merchandise Planner and support merchandise financial planning through sales analysis, category performance tracking, and contributions to financial strategies that support business growth. The Associate Merchandise Planner will provide insights to management on financial planning, inventory forecasting, and merchandise strategy, helping inform decisions across seasonal and longer-term planning horizons. This is a strong opportunity to develop planning and analytical capabilities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize merchandise flow and achieve financial objectives. This remote position is open to individuals who live in, or are open to relocating to, the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. This position requires travel to our headquarters in Melville, NY 3 times per year for internal meetings and team building activities. We reimburse reasonable and necessary travel expenses, and you’re also welcome to work on-site anytime beyond these visits – our doors are always open.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Merchandising, Operations, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in Merchandise or Demand Planning, Replenishment, Financial
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a basic understanding of retail math and forecasting methodologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across departments
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and eagerness to learn from others

  • Exposure to merchandise planning systems, such as Relex

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage pre-season and in-season financial plans for a specified product group
  • Track the financial performance of assigned products against planned sales, gross margin, and inventory targets, analyzing data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities for company growth
  • Reconcile and present financial plans utilizing both top-down and bottom-up approaches, translating financial insights into recommendations that support business strategy
  • Participate in seasonal merchandise planning strategies to maximize sales, in-stock, and inventory flow while helping plan future merchandise and inventory needs
  • Collaborate with Category Managers in the development of pre-season strategies to align product opportunities with financial objectives and broader business goals
  • Prepare and present product and financial analyses for weekly business meetings and monthly planning discussions, focusing on performance metrics such as seasonality, trends, and brand performance, and helping shape forward strategy
