About The Position

The Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) is a private, nonprofit association comprised of all companies licensed to transact workers' compensation insurance in California. The WCIRB is funded primarily by membership fees and assessments, not state money, and is a stable, proven leader in the workers' compensation insurance industry nationwide. The WCIRB performs functions to accurately measure the cost of workers' compensation benefits and ensure a healthy system. The company employs approximately 175 people with an average tenure of over 10 years and is committed to fostering a healthy, safe, and diverse work environment. This is a hybrid position requiring approximately 40% of work time to be spent at the home office in San Francisco, California.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time manager with ability to meet deadlines and meet department performance requirements.
  • Exhibits customer-centric mentality, focusing on adding value to our member insurers and other customers, providing clear explanations regarding complex issues and answering questions in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to multi-task and pay close attention to the details.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the accuracy of workers’ compensation policy and loss data.
  • Accurate calculation and timely publication of experience modifications for eligible employers in California.
  • Assisting insurers in complying with California Insurance Commissioner’s regulations regarding data reporting, experience rating, and ownership.
  • Completing a training program with coaching and mentorship.
  • Reviewing policy and unit statistical report (USR) data for accuracy to ensure WCIRB core responsibilities and services are not negatively impacted.
  • Following department procedures for reviewing and processing policy and USR audit errors.
  • Timely review and resolution of insurer responses to audit errors.
  • Providing verbal and written coaching and guidance to data reporters to resolve systemic data reporting issues and improve data quality.
  • Collaborating with team members, leadership, and other internal stakeholders to identify and resolve customer data reporting issues.
  • Performing analytical research to determine proper ownership and combinability of entities.
  • Taking requisite steps to ensure experience modifications are applied correctly to all impacted policies following ownership decision.
  • Reviewing policy information to identify potential lapses or overlapping insurance coverage and initiating communication with insurers to resolve.
  • Identifying and timely reporting system issues.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to document and implement fixes for resolution.
  • Participating in special projects or tasks as assigned by management.
