About The Position

Inova Center for Personalized Health is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Physicist. The position is Monday through Friday and offers a sign-on bonus. The physicist supports medical physics practice by collaborating with physicians, physicists, vendors, patients, regulatory agencies, and hospital committees. The role includes providing medical physics coverage appropriate to the subspecialty, such as Radiation Therapy or Cardiac Cath, and supporting equipment evaluation, quality assurance, and radiation safety.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Physical Science.
• With work experience, be eligible to take the American Board of Radiology certification examination.
• Be eligible to submit an application to become a Virginia State inspector in the subject specialty.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain contacts with physicists in other practices.
• Confer with physicians throughout Inova systems regarding patient dosages, equipment evaluation, and quality assurance.
• Cooperate with and adhere to state and federal regulatory agencies, demonstrating compliance with applicable rules and recommendations.
• Confer with equipment vendors regarding purchase specifications, acceptance rules, and regulations for equipment such as linear accelerators, MRI, and CT.
• Discuss radiation exposure associated with medical procedures with patients and other members of the public.
• Confer with physicians in subspecialties regarding all patient uses of ionizing radiation.
• Provide medical physics coverage as appropriate to the subspecialty, such as Radiation Therapy or Cardiac Cath.
• Intercompare data with other radiation therapy institutions and stay abreast of clinical and dosimetric literature in the subspecialty.
• Attend hospital-assigned committees, such as the Radiation Safety Committee.
• Maintain professional working relationships with pertinent Department Directors and Medical Directors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
