About The Position

National Louis University is seeking a board-certified Osteopathic, Allopathic Physician, or Physician Assistant for a part-time Associate Medical Director position in a new Physician Assistant (PA) program. This position is an active participant in the program, supporting the development and implementation of program competencies to meet current practice standards as they relate to the Physician Assistant role. The Associate Medical Director will assist the Program Director by providing medical guidance for didactic and the program and clinical curricular components in which PA students learn and practice the skills essential to professional interactions with physicians in the medical workplace. The Associate Medical Director reports to the Program Director of the Physician Assistant program located at NLU’s Chicago campus. This position is a contracted affiliated faculty appointment.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician in the State of Illinois required
  • Current certification by an ABMS- or AOA-approved specialty board required
  • Current or past NCCPA Certification for Physician Assistant
  • At least five years of clinical experience required
  • Clinical practice experience with licensed Physician Assistants
  • Clinical education for medical learners, preferably physician assistant students
  • Knowledge of the Physician Assistant profession
  • Commitment to the Physician Assistant Program Mission and Goals
  • The ability to work collaboratively as an interprofessional team member
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with faculty, students, and staff
  • Punctuality, attention to detail, and adherence to due dates are required
  • Proficiency in the use of technology for organization, word processing, learning management system, and communication is essential

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated history of didactic teaching of medical learners is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the PA Education Committee and participate in Program self-assessment.
  • Attend Department meetings as requested and assist with PA Programmatic Development and PA Programmatic Ongoing Assessment.
  • Review, revise, and recommend the program competencies to meet current PA practice standards.
  • Support the Director of Clinical Education with clinical site development and preceptors as requested.
  • Clinically precept students if needed.
