About The Position

This role participates in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. The engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with an understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design. Responsibilities include research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers. Mechanical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical/Civil Engineering or closely related degree, or have completed their bachelor's degree within the last 12 months.
  • Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to walk to and from the flight line, work in aircraft hangar environment and board/exit aircraft.
  • Willing to travel or relocate, if necessary.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance at the Secret level which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD skills are highly desired.
  • Understanding of basic aircraft systems.
