About The Position

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer will play a key part in the design and development of engineering solutions for parts and components and other designs of lower complexity. This role involves translating requirements into new solutions, proposing and implementing designs, developing simulations or prototypes, and verifying parts or components for low complexity solutions. The engineer will also be responsible for implementing the design of new products and/or product improvements, ensuring designs meet established requirements, and updating/creating detailed design specifications. Additionally, the role includes responsibility for integration, protocol development, and verification of designs, documenting and managing changes, and advancing engineering expertise. The engineer will also anticipate and/or develop/apply risk mitigation strategies, collaborate across functional areas, ensure quality through design techniques and alternatives, perform investigations, maintain adherence to the Quality System, and gather customer feedback for new and/or improved products. For Third Party Manufactured products, the engineer will assess the assigned part/component or subsystem ability to meet corresponding requirements and ensure activities are focused on team priorities, working within a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree In an engineering or closely related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 0-2 years of related work experience
  • Applies engineering technical knowledge for specified engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and biologics is desired

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, preferred
  • Manufacturing engineering experience (e.g. developing instructions for building of product, etc.) -- from manufacturing company
  • Experience with SolidWorks, DFA (Design for Assembly), or any other CAD system, CATIA, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Translates requirements into new solutions by developing requirements and specifications for new and existing engineering designs.
  • Proposes designs, implements or assesses designs and verifies parts or components for low complexity solutions.
  • Develops simulations or prototypes for new / modified designs and performs engineering analysis and testing.
  • Implements the design of new products and/or product improvements, ensuring designs meet established requirements.
  • Responsible for updating / creating detailed design specifications.
  • Responsible for integration, protocol development and verification of designs.
  • Documents and manages changes, including technical rationale, quality and regulatory information, and manufacturing readiness information, completing change documentation to include technical rationale and formal verification test results.
  • Maintains current technical skills and functional area expertise.
  • Reviews engineering technical risks and takes appropriate action, providing input into risk management documentation including FMEA and risk analyses.
  • Exchanges information with product team members, scientists, engineers, and other systems development personnel.
  • Participates in Engineering Design Reviews utilizing Engineering Procedures and Engineering Tools and incorporates recommendations.
  • Participates in investigations to determine root cause for low complexity issues and arrives at timely conclusions.
  • Implements and maintains the effectiveness of the quality system, following functional area policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes appropriate experimental, statistical and engineering tools.
  • Gathers inputs from internal sources and from members of the project’s cross functional team to help meet product needs.
  • For Third Party Manufactured products, assesses the assigned part / component or subsystem ability to meet corresponding requirements.
  • Ensures activities are focused on team priorities and works with cross functional team in collaborative environment.
