About The Position

This role leads, directs, and reviews the work of Engineers and Technicians in a laboratory setting. The Associate Manager communicates internally and externally to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices, and makes improvements to processes, systems, and solutions. They plan and establish goals and objectives with short-term impacts on operational goals, requiring knowledge of leading and managing projects, processes, and employees. The position involves performing a variety of duties in the mechanical and chemistry areas of the laboratory, including constructing, troubleshooting, calibrating, adjusting, testing, and maintaining laboratory test instrumentation. Work is performed from specifications, operating manuals, and written material test instructions, utilizing complex test instrumentation and computer systems. The role also involves operating related test instrumentation, conducting routine and complex testing, and reporting data in a prescribed format.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years minimum of prior related chemistry lab experience.
  • Graduate Degree with 4 years minimum of prior related chemistry lab experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related chemistry lab experience.
  • Knowledge of leading and managing projects, processes, and employees.
  • Experience working with complex test instrumentation and computer systems.
  • Experience operating related test instrumentation.
  • Experience conducting routine and complex testing.
  • Experience reporting data in prescribed format.
  • Experience with FTIR, Instrons, DSC, Microtracs, titrators, & HPLC.
  • Experience sampling and testing raw materials, propellants, explosives, and other materials.
  • Experience preparing and collecting raw test data.
  • Experience cleaning, assembling and dismantling test hardware, equipment, and apparatus.
  • Experience performing laboratory support work such as instrument set-up, calibration, inventory, and inspections.
  • Experience reviewing submitted test data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Experience approving test reports for distribution.
  • Experience reviewing and submitting lab documentation (test and calibration procedures).
