About The Position

Formative is seeking a part-time contract Associate Manager with a passion for digital marketing and strategy with a background in communications, editorial content and campaign strategy. This role will support the development of major client strategy, marketing and program development initiatives on a part-time contract basis. We expect there to be 20-30 hours of work per week. This is a 3-6-month contract opportunity for two core projects with the possibility of contract extension. This role will help lead day-to-day digital marketing and communications execution for two client projects within global health and social good spaces. We are looking for a team member who is passionate about delivering strategic communications, developing engaging content, and supporting engagement strategy. This person is a strategy minded communications expert who can leverage audience insights to sharpen comms, channel, and editorial strategy. This is a teammate who will be an comms strategist and problem solver, willing contributor in team settings, curious and self-starter to discover creative ways to engage audiences, and gets excited about generating content and channel storytelling that fuels solutions to big challenges. Project may flex from content strategy and production, to supporting campaign operations, to supporting strategic explorations, to delivering social listening and surfacing sector insights. You are the right fit for this role if you consider yourself a comms generalist that spans tactical execution and strategy development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years' marketing or communications experience, journalism experience or major preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience supporting marketing and communications engagements, especially those focused on thought leadership platforms
  • Experience in communications and content strategy, editorial, and content development (i.e. writing/editing social posts, etc.)
  • General understanding of channel strategy, ability to understand and contribute to channel mix and tactical recommendations
  • Ability to lead research and provide sharp recommendations
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with team members, including live working sessions or asynchronous feedback loops
  • Ability or strong willingness to build AI into workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Track record of quickly building subject matter experience with enough context and credibility to understand client’s business and research domain.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work in social impact fields, and especially global health, is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Sharpen and/or conduct social listening and produce synthesis on landscape surrounding client priorities such as global health, climate and education
  • Conduct research to inform evolving comms strategy, inform new program design strategy
  • Support reporting and analytics cycles
  • Support content development through copywriting, partnership and editorial review
  • Help drive communications strategy to meet audience priorities and project objectives.
  • Additional responsibilities as client and business needs arise.
