About The Position

The Associate Manager, Marketing & Social Media plays a key role in Cherry Lake Publishing Group’s Marketing Department, serving as a hub of organization and executor of targeted strategies within our larger book publishing marketing plan. Reporting to the Marketing Director, this role is responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of our trade, library, and other emails; managing company websites’ content and data; working with colleagues to manage and ultimately oversee social media channels and communications; and assisting in promotions organization and in-house mailings to reviewers, award committees, conventions, and others as needed. This position requires a digital marketing mindset, a strong and smart communication ability both in-house and externally to different audience channels, unparalleled attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and an ability to manage project schedules while communicating with stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a marketing/digital marketing role, preferably in book publishing
  • A strong interest in learning about all aspects of the book industry, from marketing to sales
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage detail-intensive marketing projects from start to finish
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong commitment to producing error-free work
  • A curious and very self-motivated approach to executing various initiatives, with a high interest in thinking about proactive marketing ideas, process improvements, and cross-department communication
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively under tight deadlines
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally and communicating clearly with a range of stakeholders
  • An attitude of ‘rolling up your sleeves to get the job done’
  • Confidence giving and receiving feedback in a positive, constructive manner

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute promotional emails, including communications to booksellers, librarians, gift accounts, and others as needed.
  • Meet with key staff to determine featured themes and selling points.
  • Develop copy and provide details on creative briefs submitted to Design.
  • Execute sending out emails via mail Constant Contacts software.
  • Determine, develop, and execute monthly homepage features for the company’s family of websites.
  • Update author and illustrator bio information, event listings, teacher guides, reviews, news, and awards.
  • Address any website corrections or additions.
  • Work across the marketing team to create and execute social media postings for the company’s library- and educator-focused channels, and ultimately oversee all social media channels to different audiences.
  • Work with key staff and sales managers on necessary communications to outside sales forces, including trade bookseller, librarian, and gift reps.
  • Aid in the creation of needed sales flyers through creative briefs to the Design department.
  • Aid in developing and executing overall title marketing plans as needed for seasonal title launches and sales conferences.
  • Spearhead the in-house coordination and mailing of books, materials, and trade show booth display items to reviewers, award committees, conferences, and elsewhere as needed.
  • Potentially attend trade shows as needed, representing our books and company, and acting as a champion of our brand and initiatives to booksellers, librarians, and educators.
