About The Position

The Associate Laboratory Director, Business Services (ALD, Business Services) serves as the senior executive responsible for the strategic leadership, stewardship, and performance of the Laboratory’s institutional resource management functions, including Finance, Procurement, Budget, and Property Management. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role serves as the COO’s principal partner for financial stewardship, acquisition strategy, resource planning, and accountable management of government-owned assets. The ALD, Business Services ensures the Laboratory’s financial resources, procurement systems, budget execution, and property management practices are fully aligned with mission priorities, Department of Energy (DOE) requirements, and prime contract expectations. As a member of the Directorate, ALD, Business Services works across science and operations to ensure disciplined stewardship enables reliable mission delivery, operational excellence, and long-term laboratory growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting, supply chain or comparable degree required
  • 15 or more years directly related work experience required
  • Demonstrated experience building high-performing teams required
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing strategic approach to financial management and budgeting
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing a strategy to ensure procurement people, processes and tools work seamlessly to meet current and future needs
  • Skilled in ensuring FAR/DEAR/CAS compliance
  • Demonstrated expertise in business services enterprise risk management
  • Proven ability to partner with executive leadership to drive modernization and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting, supply chain or comparable degree preferred
  • 5 or more years organizational leadership experience in Finance and/or Procurement preferred
  • Management and Operating Contracts preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Laboratory’s Finance, Procurement, Budget Office, and Property Management organizations.
  • Provide executive leadership of: Institutional budgeting and multi-year financial planning, DOE funding allocation and execution, Procurement strategy and subcontract management, Financial controls, reporting, and forecasting, Indirect rates and cost recovery models, Property lifecycle management and accountable asset systems, Major project financial and asset integration.
  • Serve as liaison to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
